Josef Martinez named MLS Player of the Week
Josef Martinez has earned the first MLS Player of the Week nod in Atlanta United history, picking up the prize after scoring a hat trick against Minnesota United in snowy TCF Bank Stadium last Sunday.

Martinez scored his first goal in MLS against Minnesota and added two more in an eventual 6-1 win over the Loons, and his efforts in the cold - short sleeves and all - were rewarded with the Player of the Week nod ahead of New York City FC captain David Villa and Martinez's own teammate, Miguel Almiron.
The Venezuelan Designated Player also has the honor of having scored Atlanta's first-ever hat-trick and helped make history, as no expansion team had ever scored six goals in an inaugural season match.
Not too shabby.
