Report: Several teams showing interest in Malcolm Butler

As Malcolm Butler's representatives reportedly look for a team willing to give up a first-round pick for their client, the New England Patriots cornerback has received interest from several teams, a source told Jeff Howe of the Boston Herald.

The Patriots placed a first-round tender on Butler, which will pay the restricted free agent $3.91 million next season.

Any team looking to acquire Butler would have to extend an offer sheet, which the Patriots would have five days to match. If the Patriots choose not match the offer sheet, they would acquire Butler's new team's first-round pick.

Butler would prefer to stay with the Patriots, with whom he's won two Super Bowls, but their recent $65-million investment in fellow cornerback Stephon Gilmore could cause an issue, adds Howe. The Patriots told Butler last season they wouldn't pay him more than $10 million annually, so giving Gilmore $13 million per season likely isn't sitting well with Butler.

If no team sends Butler an offer sheet, he doesn't have any plans to hold out, according to Howe.
