Wenger: My preference is to stay at Arsenal

Although a win was expected for Arsenal over non-league Lincoln City on Saturday, the manner in which Arsene Wenger's lot shook away supporter protests and media scrutiny to record a 5-0 win and reach the FA Cup semi-finals would've alleviated some pressure on the Frenchman.

There was some fan backing inside the Emirates Stadium for Wenger, but it was the banners telling him it was "Time to Go" and brandishing awful puns like "Wexit" that garnered more pre-match attention than the strong side that he revealed an hour before kick-off.

Unsurprisingly, Wenger, in his 21st season with the club, is tired of being the centre of attention; especially when efforts from Theo Walcott, Olivier Giroud, Alexis Sanchez, Aaron Ramsey, and a Luke Waterfall own goal delivered such a comprehensive victory.

"Let's not talk about me too much because that has happened a lot recently," Wenger said to BT Sport, courtesy of Reuters.

"I have shown in my life that I try to serve this club with complete commitment and I will do that as long as I am here. How long? I don't know at the moment. I have shown a lot of loyalty and my preference is here."

Following the disenchantment at the club which sees a title well out of Arsenal's grasp and a seventh straight elimination from the Champions League Round of 16 on Tuesday after a harrowing 10-2 aggregate loss to Bayern Munich, Wenger is desperate to deliver his record seventh FA Cup title in May.

"Recently we have disappointed our fans. We want to go again to Wembley to win," Wenger said.

"I focus on my job. I always do that. I let other people judge my performances. I am not too much worried about the rest. I am just focused on the next game."

Arsenal's next match is back in the Premier League, when Wenger takes his side to West Bromwich Albion, which has enjoyed a fine season but is on a run of two straight defeats.
