Report: Potential 1st-round CB Jones carted off at pro day with torn Achilles
Washington cornerback Sidney Jones had his pro day workout brought to an early end Saturday as a result of a torn Achilles, a source told Eric Edholm of Yahoo Sports.
After going down during a backpedal drill, Jones had to be helped off by Huskies head coach Chris Petersen and left the field with his leg elevated on a cart, according to Sheil Kapadia of ESPN.
Jones, a three-year starter at Washington, is considered by many to be a first-round talent looking ahead to April's draft.
Escaping with a minor ailment would have likely left his draft stock unchanged, but the significance of a torn Achilles will raise concerns from teams around the league.
He all but confirmed his first-round status by demonstrating his athleticism at the NFL Scouting Combine last week, checking in at 6-foot and 186 pounds and running the 40-yard dash in 4.47 seconds.
