Calipari on Wichita State: 'This is a Sweet 16, Elite Eight-caliber game'

Kentucky head coach John Calipari remains unfazed by the quality of competition as his team advances through the NCAA tournament.

The Wildcats square off against 10th-seeded Wichita State on Sunday, and Calipari effusively praised the Shockers, stating that they are much better than their ranking would indicate.

"This is a Sweet 16, Elite Eight (caliber) game, but that's OK," Calipari said during his press conference Saturday.

Kentucky eliminated Wichita State during the 2014 tournament in a 78-76 thriller. Although there aren't any holdovers from either team, a mutual respect has been engendered between both schools.

Calipari warned his team to crash the glass with ferocity ahead of Sunday's much-anticipated contest.

"They viciously go after offensive rebounds. ... They are not afraid to go inside," Calipari said of Wichita State.

Wichita State may have received an unfair seeding, but now sport an opportunity to exact a measure of revenge against one of the titans of college basketball.
