Here are the fantasy ramifications following the news that WR Ted Ginn Jr. has signed with the New Orleans Saints.

Ted Ginn Jr. can still fly. His speed will most certainly be utilized in Sean Payton's spread offense, but not nearly as often as it was in Carolina.

Even with Brandin Cooks off to New England, there is still a logjam at WR for the Saints. Michael Thomas, Willie Snead and Brandon Coleman will remain ahead of Ginn in the pecking order. TEs Coby Fleener and Josh Hill will see their fair share of targets and the Payton's offense has always included running backs in the passing game. That's a lot of mouths to feed.

Without Cooks, though, Payton will surely have a handful of plays designed specifically for Ginn each game. This would include screen passes, end-arounds and a couple of looks downfield each week. It will be up to Ginn as to whether he can hit a home run with his few chances.

New Orleans' "the whole is greater than the sum of its parts" offense has provided a love/hate relationship with WRs and their fantasy owners. A receiver can star one week and only receive three targets the following week. Given the nature of Ginn's skill set, he should fit in perfectly.

Ginn will have huge weeks where he will be a hot waiver-wire pickup, but all and all, his production will fluctuate too much to be a reliable season-long fantasy asset. His value is at its peak in MFL10's, where owners won't be punished for his invisible weeks, but they'll reap the benefits when he posts a line of 5-100-2.
