Torrey Smith's short stint with the San Francisco 49ers was disappointing from start to finish.

The deep-threat receiver signed with the team in 2015 for five years and $40 million, but was released Tuesday just two seasons into that contract.

In his time in the Bay Area, the Niners won seven out of 32 games, and the receiver produced 930 yards and seven touchdowns.

"Last few years were terrible professionally, you know? Football, it wasn't fun," Smith said on CSN SportsTalk Live on Tuesday.

"Wasn't very involved, so it wasn't a fun two years as a player."

Smith also played under two different coaching staffs. His first year was spent under Jim Tomsula in his only season with the Niners, and then he witnessed the one-year Chip Kelly experiment in 2016.

Though he wasn't thrilled with the football, he had nothing but nice things to say about the people he interacted with in San Francisco.

"Loved the locker room, loved my teammates, and I loved both coaching staffs I was involved with as well. so it just was I came in at the wrong time but I'm still thankful for the opportunity that they gave me," Smith said.

The 28-year-old will now look to sign with another club during free agency.
