Gobert tips in miss to sink Kings at OT buzzer
The Sacramento Kings lost in the most painful fashion imaginable Sunday.
Having already blown a six-point lead to the Utah Jazz in the final 40 seconds of regulation, the Kings clung to a one-point advantage with eight seconds left in overtime. Willie Cauley-Stein - whose two free throws had put the Kings ahead moments earlier - did a terrific job containing Jazz point guard George Hill, and ultimately forced him to hoist up an air ball.
Turns out that Cauley-Stein did too good a job, because if Hill's step-back jumper had caught even a little bit of rim, the Kings probably win. Instead, the ball dropped right into the waiting palm of Rudy Gobert, who tipped it in just before the buzzer.
The basket was initially ruled cylinder interference - which again, it likely would've been had the ball grazed the rim - but the call was reversed upon review and the Jazz walked off victorious.
