Colorado's Evans exits practice in ambulance with apparent hip injury

Lower-body injuries are often a nightmare for running backs, and Kyle Evans may be living through one.

The sophomore running back for Colorado suffered what appeared to be a hip injury during Saturday's practice and was taken from the field in an ambulance, according to Brian Howell of The Boulder Daily Camera, citing head coach Mike MacIntyre.

The extent of the injury was not immediately known.

Evans appeared in 12 games for the Buffaloes last season, rushing for 346 yards and three touchdowns on 84 carries. The total was good for third on the team behind incumbent starter Phillip Lindsay and quarterback Sefo Liufau.

A lengthy absence from Evans could prove to be a significant hit to the Buffaloes' backfield. The program only has one incoming back in its 2017 recruiting class, which is three-star prospect Alex Fontenot.
