Orlando City has added a veteran presence to its backline, signing right-back Scott Sutter from Swiss side Young Boys.

The Lions announced the move with a statement on their website Friday, adding that Sutter joins the MLS Eastern Conference side pending the receipt of an International Transfer Certificate and a P-1 Visa.

Sutter, who was born in Tottenham's backyard in Enfield, north London, moved to Switzerland as a teenager and enlisted with Swiss giants Grasshoppers before switching to Young Boys in 2009.

With a pair of Swiss international caps and heaps of experience playing both domestically and in European competitions, Orlando City General Manager Niki Budalic reckons the acquisition of the right-back will pay instant dividends.

"We are very happy to have secured Scott’s signature," Budalic said Friday. "He brings excellent technical ability and will add valuable depth and experience to our defense. We’re excited to see what he will do."

Sutter will likely compete for time with another 30-plus full-back with plenty of experience across the pond after Orlando signed American defender Jonathan Spector the last week of January.
