Cook hits 22 reps, McCaffrey 10, as RB prospects kick off bench press

This year's highly touted group of running back prospects got to work at the NFL Scouting Combine on Thursday, beginning their workouts with the bench press test.

In the competition between Dalvin Cook and Leonard Fournette to be the draft's top back, the Florida State product took advantage of his counterpart's decision to sit out, hitting 22 reps - fourth-most among running backs. LSU's Fournette, who weighed in at 240 pounds, will do his bench press at his pro day.

Stanford's Christian McCaffrey didn't get off to a great start, completing just 10 reps of 225 pounds, while NCAA all-time leading rusher Donnel Pumphrey of San Diego State could only muster five.

Oklahoma's Samaje Perine set the bar high with a position-best 30 reps. That number was surpassed by only three offensive linemen at this year's combine.
