There's no such thing as bad publicity, right?

A pathetic turnout at a demonstration to encourage Alexis Sanchez to leave Arsenal is receiving about as much attention for its lack of protesters as it would if the thousands of fans who committed to it actually showed up.

Around 1 percent of the expected 14,000 protesters attended a protest in Santiago, Chile organised to urge the star to leave north London.

Allegedly sick of seeing one of their best footballers waste his talents with the north London side, fans in Sanchez's home country created a Facebook page where thousands agreed to attend.

Instead, between five and eight people actually showed up, according to the BBC.

However, the media spotlight on the miserable turnout has likely benefited the cause, and may have caught Sanchez's attention.

Though it's unlikely to persuade him one way or another, Sanchez's future at Arsenal remains in doubt as questions over his willingness to sign a new contract persist.
