Zlatan Ibrahimovic is eager to call Old Trafford home until 2019.

The Swedish forward is said to be optimistic that his impressive first season at Manchester United will be rewarded with a new two-year contract, according to Peter O'Rourke of ESPNFC.

Manchester United shares a similar sentiment, with club officials reportedly confident that Ibrahimovic will remain part of the team beyond the one-year contract he signed last summer after his deal at Paris Saint-Germain expired.

Earlier this season, United exercised a club option in his contract that will see Zlatan return to Old Trafford for a second season. However, John Cross and David Anderson of The Mirror understand that Ibrahimovic's advisers are eager to negotiate a better deal and add another 12 months to his contract.

The 35-year-old is fresh off leading Manchester United to its first EFL Cup trophy since 2010 after his brace helped lift the Red Devils to a 3-2 triumph over Southampton at Wembley Stadium on Sunday.

Ibrahimovic, who boasted earlier this season that it only took him three months to conquer England, has thrived since his arrival as he leads the team in appearances (38), goals (26), and chances created (77) in all competitions.
