Report: Browns' Gordon to apply for reinstatement

Cleveland Browns wide receiver Josh Gordon is set to apply for reinstatement to the NFL on Wednesday, his business manager, Michael Johnson, informed ESPN's Adam Schefter.

"Josh is living with me and is in the best place mentally that he has been in dating back years before entering the NFL," Johnson told Schefter. "He has taken the proper steps to treat his issues and has followed a very strict protocol that the league and our team here has laid out for him. He's also in the best shape of his life and feels even better than he did when he had his breakout year in 2013. This will be a special year for Josh and we are all very proud of the way he has taken the necessary steps to turn his life around."

Gordon was suspended for the 2015 season for violating the NFL's substance-abuse policy. He applied for reinstatement in January 2016, but was denied in March after he failed another drug test.

It appeared the 25-year-old was on track to return this past season after he was reinstated in July 2016 with the stipulation he'd be banned for the first four games. However, Gordon said in late September that he would delay his return to football and enter a rehabilitation facility.
