Nets waive Luis Scola

The Brooklyn Nets announced they have requested waivers on veteran power forward Luis Scola.
It was most likely an act of goodwill for a Nets team going nowhere to release the 36-year-old. Scola will be eligible to join a playoff team since he was waived before March 1.
Brooklyn signed Scola last offseason mostly for his leadership and presence in the locker room. He played sparingly, appearing in 36 games for an average of 12.8 minutes per game for averages of 5.1 points and 3.9 rebounds.
