Report: 76ers interested in Celtics' Avery Bradley

Reinhold Matay-USA TODAY Sports

The Philadelphia 76ers are in the market for defense-first guards to surround No. 1 pick Ben Simmons when he returns from injury.

To that end, the Sixers targeted Boston Celtics shooting guard Avery Bradley, but those talks have gained very little traction, sources told Adrian Wojnarowski of The Vertical.

Philadelphia boasts a bounty of draft picks, but the Celtics are in a similar situation. Boston is primed for a playoff run, so adding future assets for an immediate contributor like Bradley makes little sense.

Featuring an improved jumpshot and typically stellar on-ball defense, Bradley is owed $8.3 million this season and $8.8 million next season.

Bradley is enjoying a career year, averaging 17.7 points and 6.9 rebounds while shooting 47.5 percent from the field and 41 percent from deep.
