No timetable for Vikings' Bridgewater's return

Brace Hemmelgarn / USA TODAY Sports

Minnesota Vikings general manager Rick Spielman said there will be no timetable for quarterback Teddy Bridgewater's return from the devastating knee injury he suffered in the 2016 offseason.

The team's starting quarterback tore his ACL and dislocated his left knee in August, costing him the entire season.

Spielman said it would be "unfair" to put a timeline on Bridgewater's recovery, according to Tom Pelissero of USA Today Sports.

There are some ominous signs, however. Spielman would not say he is 100 percent certain Bridgewater will play in 2017, Matt Vensel of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports, and that the pivot is just working on getting back to "functional," Brian Murphy of the St. Paul Pioneer Press writes.

Bridgewater's injury prompted the Vikings to trade for Sam Bradford, a move Spielman said he would make again "in a millisecond," according to Pelissero.

Bradford has one year remaining on his contract, one that will pay him upwards of $14 million. Spielman would not divulge whether the Vikings have broached inking the veteran passer to an extension.
