Report: Pistons 'welcoming offers' for Drummond, Caldwell-Pope

USA Today Sports

The Detroit Pistons could be active participants ahead of Thursday's deadline.

While they're not committed to moving either player, the Pistons are "welcoming offers" for Andre Drummond and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, league sources tell ESPN's Marc Stein.

Pistons owner Tom Gores is reportedly a big admirer of Drummond, making it unlikely that he'll actually be traded, but that has yet to prevent Detroit from engaging with other teams. The Portland Trail Blazers were reportedly one of the teams who expressed interest in Drummond, but quickly ended talks after the Pistons asked for C.J. McCollum in return.

Caldwell-Pope, meanwhile, was reportedly considered untouchable as recently as last month. The Pistons are demanding at least one first-round pick and a frontcourt player in exchange for the 24-year-old.

Detroit remains interested in trading Reggie Jackson, discussing potential trade scenarios with the Minnesota Timberwolves and Orlando Magic in recent months.

Drummond is averaging 14.6 points, 13.8 rebounds, 1.7 steals, and 1.2 blocks, while Caldwell-Pope is averaging 14.2 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 2.8 assists on 40.9 percent shooting.
