Football world stunned when 'keeper's career crumbles after pie stunt
The incident being called "Pie Gate" came to a sad conclusion for Wayne Shaw with the Sutton United reserve 'keeper's resignation Tuesday.
A day after Shaw was filmed eating a pie on Sutton's bench during Monday's FA Cup loss to Arsenal, the U.K. Gambling Commission opened an investigation into potential irregularities in betting patterns. The reserve 'keeper had admitted to being aware that Sun Bets was offering 8-1 odds of him being filmed eating a pie, and ultimately resigned.

"Wayne Shaw resigns as reserve goalkeeper at Sutton United" was not a headline I was expecting to read on Sky Sports News. Ever.

Would this whole Shaw episode have been avoided had Sutton not taken Sun Bets sponsorship? Lesson there perhaps...
