Report: Packers fined Lacy for weight issues
Running back Eddie Lacy will hit free agency in a month if the Green Bay Packers don't make an attempt to retain him.
Where Lacy lands, and how loud a thud he makes when he does, could depend on what kind of shape he's in.
The running back's struggles with his weight are infamous. Though he's listed at 234 pounds on the Packers' roster, Lacy reportedly played at closer to 260 two seasons ago, and the Packers weren't happy about it.
According to Pete Dougherty of the Green Bay Press-Gazette, the Packers fined Lacy for not making weight over the past few seasons.
Lacy seemed to make a point of getting in shape for the 2016 season, and looked more spry than usual in the first few games, but an ankle injury landed him on IR after only five games.
Lacy is unlikely to receive a big-money deal in free agency and may be forced to sign a short-term contract that forces him to prove he can keep his weight in check.
