England's most recognisable referee is taking his talents to Saudi Arabia.

Mark Clattenburg called time on his career in Europe on Thursday, concluding 13 years as an official in England's top flight by being appointed the Saudi Arabia Football Federation's new head of officials.

In honour of Clattenburg blowing the final whistle, here's a sample of his most memorable moments at both the domestic and international levels of football:

Spurs controversially denied 1st Old Trafford win

Tottenham looked certain to leave Old Trafford with three points for the first time ever during the Premier League era until Clattenburg wrongly disallowed the go-ahead goal in 2005. The away end went ballistic when the English official ruled in Manchester United's favour after Pedro Mendes' terrific strike from the halfway line clearly went over the goal line.

Signalling for the stretcher?

One of the most shocking moments of the Euro 2016 final was preceded by Clattenburg's bizarre signal to the benches as he called for a stretcher to help Cristiano Ronaldo off the pitch.

Before Ronaldo was forced to leave the final against France, the English official's exaggerated signal for a stretcher left social media in stitches.

Tongue wag

Clattenburg was obviously aware of Pepe's fondness for deceiving officials.

The 41-year-old wasn't having it during May's Champions League final after Pepe steamrolled Atletico Madrid's Yannick Carrasco and claimed he was, in fact, the victim.

A menacing Clattenburg glared at Pepe as the Real Madrid defender rolled around in "pain." The Portuguese defender's antics eventually triggered the tongue wag seen around the world:

Lining up a free-kick?

Liverpool players lining up in the wall might have thought Clattenburg was acting as a decoy before Dimitri Payet's free-kick earlier this season.

Clattenburg abandons protocol to catch Ed Sheeran

There's no better way to show affection for a musician than risking your life, right?

Instead of travelling with his officiating crew - a protocol to ensure the safety of referees and linesmen - Clattenburg abandoned his colleagues in order to catch Ed Sheeran's show shortly after officiating a match between Crystal Palace and West Brom in 2014.

He was excluded from officiating duties the following week.

Permanent reminder

Clattenburg may have set a precedent for referees celebrating milestones after getting tattoos to remember the two biggest matches he's ever officiated.

After officiating both the Champions League and Euro 2016 finals with the space of three months, Clattenburg celebrated the feats with a pair of tattoos to mark each occasion.
