Troy Taormina / USA TODAY Sports

Former Kansas State quarterback Collin Klein is reportedly returning to his alma mater as an assistant coach, a source told Jake Trotter of ESPN.

Klein played for the Wildcats from 2008-12, finishing third in Heisman voting in 2012 and being named Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year.

His 56 career rushing touchdowns are most in school history, while his 27 in 2011 are a single season school record. As a passer, Klein finished with 4,724 yards, sixth most in school history, and 30 passing touchdowns, seventh most.

Klein coached quarterbacks at FCS Northern Iowa last season after serving as a graduate assistant with Kansas State from 2014-15.
