Report: Aldo to face Holloway in 145-pound title unification bout at UFC 212 in Brazil

Undisputed featherweight champion Jose Aldo will face interim titleholder Max Holloway in a unification bout on June 3 at UFC 212 in Rio de Janeiro, FloCombat's Jim Edwards reported Friday after president Dana White told ESPN the matchup was a "done deal."

The fight had been targeted for Saturday's UFC 208 in Brooklyn, but an ankle injury kept Holloway from making the date. Aldo now gets his fourth UFC booking in the Brazilian city, where he bested Chad Mendes (twice) and Chan Sung Jung in three of seven successful title defenses that comprised his first reign as 145-pound king.

The 30-year-old was promoted from interim to undisputed champ after an injury to light heavyweight king Daniel Cormier left December's UFC 206 without a main event, prompting the promotion to strip Conor McGregor of the 145-pound strap and anoint Holloway's meeting with Anthony Pettis an interim title bout.

"Blessed" finished Pettis via third-round TKO to set up his long-coveted date with Aldo, who won the same crown in a unanimous decision over Frankie Edgar at UFC 200 this past summer.

Holloway has won 10 straight, while Aldo has gone 8-1 in the Octagon, his sole promotional blemish a 13-second knockout courtesy of McGregor at UFC 194.
