FC Dallas double dips for Grana, Cermeno

FC Dallas

Defending Supporter's Shield holder FC Dallas made a pair of moves Tuesday, signing Argentine full-back Hernan Grana and Venezuelan midfielder Carlos Cermeno.

The club announced the moves with a statement on its website, adding that both players will join Oscar Pareja's lot for its preseason in Buenos Aires.

Grana, 31, who last played in Argentina with second-tier side All Boys, is no stranger to the MLS after a seven-game spell in 2015 with Columbus Crew ended prematurely with the player citing "home sickness." He joins Dallas on loan, with the Western Conference standout holding a club option to buy the player at the end of the 2017 campaign.

"We feel that Hernan will feel very much at home here in Dallas," FC Dallas Technical Director Fernando Clavijo said Tuesday. "He will be the sixth Argentine in our locker room, along with several other South Americans and Spanish-speakers. He is now in an ideal position to excel on and off the pitch."

While Grana's move kicks off on a temporary basis, Cermeno, 21, enlists with FC Dallas on permanent terms, which as per MLS policy were not disclosed. The once-capped Venezuelan makes the switch from top-tier locals Deportivo Tachira.
