Tiger tells Americans to 'come together' in response to immigration ban

Gary A. Vasquez-USA TODAY Sports

Tiger Woods has managed to steer clear of politics for the majority of his career, preferring to keep his political and social activism private.

Woods' flight to Dubai on Sunday was affected when many citizens protested President Donald Trump's executive order at Los Angeles International Airport, forcing Woods to take a commercial flight to the event.

The former world No. 1 was asked about the controversial immigration ban and Woods gave a message to a very divided country.

"We're fellow Americans and as Americans, we come together and do what's best for our country," Woods told Shane O'Donoghue of CNN. "We need to unite and be Americans. I know there is a lot of divisiveness as of right now, but time, patience and unity, I think will win out."

The 14-time major champion played with the President in December at Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach, Fla.
