Top Prospect to Watch in 2017

OF Michael Conforto has accumulated nearly 550 plate appearances over the past two seasons, hitting 21 total home runs and a .220/.310/.414 slash line. The contracts of Mets OFs Granderson and Bruce are likely to stick him in the minors to begin the season, where he'll have to play his way back up. The Mets lack prospects likely to make any serious impact in 2017, making Conforto the one to watch.

Who Will Drive You Crazy?

Name value and a roster spot will continue to see Wright be drafted. He has been limited to just 338 plate appearances over the past two seasons, totaling five home runs and five stolen bases. He'll remain atop the lineup when healthy, but he isn't worth a draft pick as a shell of the player owners think they'll be getting.

The One to Own

Cespedes is the surest asset in the Mets lineup. He has never played fewer than 129 games in his five-year careern, and has hit 30 homers in each of the past two. He has never replicated his stolen base ability from his rookie season, but he has proven to be a solid average hitter and showed improved discipline with a 9.4 percent walk rate in 2016.

Top Sleeper

Before having his season shortened at the end of August, LHP Matz enjoyed a successful rookie campaign in place of RHP Wheeler in the Mets' starting rotation. His 3.40 ERA was actually bested by his 3.30 xFIP. Owners will likely be more attracted to the name of RHPs Matt Harvey and Wheeler, who're coming off significant injuries. While Matz will likely be behind both in the rotation, he'll be the safest option.
