Ighalo becomes latest to make big-money switch to China

Add Odion Ighalo to the list.

The 27-year-old striker became the latest player to leave Europe in favour of the eye-watering riches on offer in China, the Nigerian international joining Super League side Changchun Yatai from Watford.

"All at Watford FC thank Odion for his contributions to the club, and wish him the best of luck for his future career," read a brief statement.

Ighalo, who just five-and-a-half months ago inked a contract extension, struggled mightily this season at Vicarage Road; after banging in 17 goals last season, the hefty frontman mustered just a singular Premier League tally in 18 appearances (14 starts) this campaign.

With their attacking ranks bloated following the January arrivals of Mauro Zarate on a permanent deal and M'Baye Niang on loan, the Hornets have clearly decided to cash in on the misfiring forward.

Multiple reports suggest Watford banked £20 million in the deal.

West Brom was reportedly interested in snapping up Ighalo, but Watford was said to prefer selling him abroad and found a willing partner in the Chinese Super League side.
