Report: Cousins cleared of wrongdoing in NYC nightclub brawl

Chris Humphreys / USA TODAY Sports

Sacramento Kings center DeMarcus Cousins has been cleared of any wrongdoings in connection to a brawl that took place in December at a New York City nightclub, sources told ESPN's Marc Stein.

Cousins will not be arrested, although teammate Matt Barnes is facing misdemeanor assault charges in connection to the same brawl and is expected to turn himself in despite maintaining his innocence.

Both Kings teammates are the subject of a lawsuit from Jasmine Besiso and Myrone Powell, who allege that they were assaulted. Barnes is accused of having choked Besiso, while Powell claims Cousins punched her in the face as she rushed to Besiso's defense.

A representative for the alleged victims referred to the incident as both "vicious" and "unprovoked," with Cousins' blow to Powell being called a "blindside punch."
