Report: Steelers' Bryant applies for reinstatement

Adam Hunger / USA TODAY Sports

Pittsburgh Steelers wideout Martavis Bryant has formally applied for reinstatement from suspension, his agent confirmed to Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle.

Bryant was handed an indefinite suspension of not less than one year last March for multiple violations of the NFL's substance abuse policy.

If Bryant has remained clean since then and satisfied the NFL's demands, he should be reinstated in time to join the Steelers for their offseason program this spring.

The team could sorely use Bryant's game-changing abilities. Though the Steelers' passing attack was formidable in 2016, it lacked a player with the size, speed, and red-zone prowess of Bryant.

In the two seasons Bryant played since joining the Steelers as a fourth-round pick in 2014 (with a four-game drug suspension in the middle), the receiver made 76 catches for 1,314 yards and 14 touchdowns across 21 appearances.
