Evra completes switch from Juventus to Marseille

Patrice Evra's time at Juventus has come to an end, with the French left-back making the move to Marseille on Wednesday after much speculation over his future.

Evra, 35, joins the Ligue 1 behemoth on an 18-month contract.

The veteran, who moved to Serie A in 2014 after a decorated spell at Manchester United, established himself as a key contributor for Massimiliano Allegri in his first two seasons, but found his opportunities limited this year playing behind Brazilian standout Alex Sandro.

The return to fitness of Kwadwo Asamoah, who can operate down the left flank, made the Frenchman expendable.

Evra made only three league starts this season, and had not been included in the squad since the club returned from its winter break.

That led to rampant speculation over his future; a return to Old Trafford was mulled, while Crystal Palace and Valencia were also linked with a bid.

In the end, however, the 81-time capped international moves to the Stade Velodrome, where he will look to help Marseille improve on its seventh-place standing in Ligue 1.
