Tiger's best moments at Torrey Pines

He's back, and he's returning to a place that has been very good to Tiger Woods over his career.

Woods is playing his first PGA Tour event of 2017 at the Farmers Insurance Open this week, and he's already been victorious at Torrey Pines eight times in his career.

With Woods playing for the first time since August 2015, here are the best Tiger moments from the California course.

1991 - Junior World

Woods captured his sixth straight Junior World Golf Championships when he shot a final-round 69 to beat Chris Riley and became the first 15-year-old to win the 15-17 age division. Asked how many trophies he had collected to that point, Woods answered, "I have no idea. I quit counting after 11-and-under. I had 110 trophies. I threw them all into the garage."

1999 - The start of something

Winless on the Tour in over nine months while players like David Duval grabbed headlines, Woods was said to be in a slump entering the 1999 Farmers Insurance Open. Tiger barely made the cut and was nine shots back heading into Saturday's third round. By the end of the day, he held a one-shot lead thanks to a 10-under-par 62. On Sunday, Woods found himself tied with Billy Ray Brown on the 72nd hole of the tournament. Tiger hit a 7-iron from 176 yards to 15 feet, setting up an eagle, a two-shot victory, and the first of his eight wins.

2003 - Guess who's back?

Torrey marked a return to competitive play for Woods after undergoing knee surgery back in the fall of 2002. Woods, who was paired with Phil Mickelson on Sunday, secured his second Buick Invitational victory with two incredible shots coming down the stretch. The first occurred at No. 15 after a wayward drive. Woods rifled a 4-iron under a tree and onto the green, stopping 15 feet from the hole for an eventual birdie. Tiger then hit another iron on No. 18 right at the flagstick that led to a two-putt birdie and a four-shot victory.

2008 - 6 holes of mayhem

With Torrey hosting the U.S. Open, Woods shot 37 on the front nine and then added another bogey at No. 12 to fall three back of leader Rocco Mediate. His last six holes were simply jaw-dropping. Tiger eagled the par-5 13th, making a bomb from the back of the green, then holed a crazy chip shot at No. 17 that crashed off the flagstick and into the hole. Woods arrived at the par-5 18th and hit a high cut 5-wood into the middle of the green, leaving a 60-foot putt ... which he made for eagle and a one-stroke lead.

See you Monday, Rocco

Woods was on the precipice of losing his first major despite holding the lead after 54 holes, with Rocco Mediate sitting in the clubhouse ahead by one shot when Tiger arrived at the 72nd hole. Woods hit his drive into the fairway bunker on the left, then fired his layup into the rough on the right, leaving 105 yards to the hole. Tiger hit his third one, and had 12 feet to force an 18-hole playoff the next day ... which he did.

Tiger appeared to be in complete control of the playoff against Mediate, taking a lead into the final eight holes. By the time the two reached the par-4 15th, that cushion had been erased and Woods got into trouble off the tee, finding a bunker way right of the fairway. Mediate hit his approach close to the hole. Tiger responded with a truly ridiculous shot inside of Rocco's ball. When the pair moved to the 16th hole, Mediate had a one-shot lead after he made and Tiger missed - but still, that shot was crazy.

Won and done at 91

After 90 holes, Woods and Mediate were tied and headed to a sudden-death playoff at the par-4 seventh. Mediate found trouble all the way to the green and Tiger made a routine par. When Mediate's par missed, Woods won his 14th major championship, a feat he would call the greatest of his career. Two days later, Woods announced he would have season-ending knee surgery.
