Barack Obama's two-term presidency comes to an official end this afternoon, so let's look back at some of the many memorable moments involving the 44th President of the United States and the National Basketball Association.

Yelling at Mario

Berating Mario Chalmers on national TV was a staple of The Big Three-era Miami Heat, and the former Heat point guard was forever immortalized when Obama joked about the verbal lashings during the 2013 champions' visit to the White House.

THE handshake

Never has a man - let alone a president - transitioned between two types of handshakes or greetings as seamlessly as Obama did going from a Team USA staffer to Kevin Durant.

Obama roasts Warriors

Oh, the satisfaction Obama must have felt when just months later, the Warriors followed their Bulls-beating, 73-win regular season with a Finals collapse for the ages.

That time he stole Scottie Pippen in a pick-up game

When you're the leader of the free world and a lifelong Bulls fan, there's no way you're playing against Scottie Pippen.

Here's the excerpt from GQ's oral history of Obama playing pick-up ball:

Alexi Giannoulias: Marty made up the teams that day. Me and Barack, we have a pretty good team. But the other team is, like, Arne and Scottie Pippen. And I look at the president like, "Why do they have Scottie Pippen on their team? Don't you want to win this game?" He's like, "Well, you know, Marty made the teams." And I remember I'm like, "You're the President of the United States. Get Scottie Pippen on our team!" He went over and was like, "All right. Scottie Pippen is on our team." Scottie changed his jersey. He kind of winked at me, and then we just blasted them.

... Or the time he got under Joakim Noah's skin

One more from that aforementioned GQ oral history. During the same game he apparently crossed Chris Paul and drained the game-winner, Obama trolled Joakim Noah about his strange shooting motion.

Turns out Boogie wasn't the first, and probably won't be the last.

David Axelrod: (The president) ticked off Joakim Noah because the president was trash-talking him about his shot, (which is), shall we say, unorthodox. The president said, "Where'd you get that shot? That's the ugliest shot I've ever seen." So at some point, Noah decided, "Okay, let's see about yours." And he completely smothered the president. I mean he was guarding him and the president could not go anywhere. But I will say that with all of that, somehow playing against all these NBA players, he mysteriously was able to hit the winning shot.

Mentoring Steph

Even the greatest 3-point shooter of all time accepts a lesson when it's being given by the POTUS.

FLOTUS poster

Not to be outdone by Barack, Michelle Obama created a couple instant classics of her own with NBA superstars, most notably her Nerf poster on LeBron James while Erik Spoelstra was conducting a White House interview with Dwyane Wade and Ray Allen.

The run-up, the force, and the reactionary laugh, above all, make this an all-time FLOTUS moment.
