Top Prospect to Watch in 2017
While dreams of Vladimir Guerrero Jr. flutter through Jays' fans minds, 1B Rowdy Tellez has the best chance making the big league club in 2017. With Edwin Encarnacion gone and Smoak tenuous at best, Tellez could get a chance to show what he's got. He hasn't yet played above Double-A, but his home run power and growing ability to draw walks could accelerate his push.
Who Will Drive You Crazy?
The oft-injured Travis is agonizing to own. He is expected to bat lead-off, and has hit over .300 since his MLB debut. All of that is encouraging, but he's prone to false starts and hasn't been able to play a full season. Maybe this is the year he reinforces his glass frame.
The One to Own
Donaldson, as if there was any doubt. Yes, he's going in the first round, but there is no other Blue Jay worth targeting in the early rounds. He'll deliver a solid batting average, and hit 35-plus home runs with close to 100 RBIs, despite hitting from the two-hole. He might even swipe a few bases. Donaldson is the man.
Top Sleeper
Despite likely going undrafted, Pearce is a nice addition. A utility option, Pearce can play throughout the infield and outfield and will be immediately targeted when Travis hits the DL at some point. Pearce has some pop and has occasionally hit for a solid average. Keep your eye on him.
