The worst-kept secret in MLS has finally come to fruition, with the LA Galaxy confirming the signing of U.S. international midfielder Jermaine Jones.

Jones moves to StubHub Center through the use of Target Allocation Money (TAM), with the Galaxy announcing the move Wednesday.

"Jermaine is a winner who has experience in MLS and playing against the highest competition in the world," Galaxy manager Curt Onalfo said. "He has a relentless engine on the field and we are confident that he will strengthen our midfield. We look forward to him joining the Galaxy as we prepare for the upcoming season."

No stranger to veteran players, the Galaxy welcome Jones as fellow 30-year-old-plus players Robbie Keane, Leonardo, Jeff Larentowicz, Alan Gordon, Mike Magee, and Steven Gerrard all closed the book on their LA tenures.

The Frankfurt-born midfielder moves to the record five-time MLS champ with plenty of experience for club and country after emerging from Eintracht Frankfurt's academy in 1999. Jones, 35, then spent 15 years in Germany with Eintracht, Bayer Leverkusen, and Schalke before moving to the Turkish top flight with Besiktas.

A fiery central mid is as adept in attack as he is at putting in a timely tackle, Jones then moved to the North American top flight with the New England Revolution in 2014, where he made 28 appearances. After getting sent off for dissent in his final match with the five-time MLS Cup runners-up, Jones spent a spell with Colorado Rapids after a trade that sent a first-round MLS SuperDraft selection and General Allocation Money (GAM) the other way.

With the Rapids, Jones bagged three goals and two assists in 13 appearances, notching MLS Player of the Month for April 2016.

In December, Jones' right were acquired by the Galaxy in exchange for a first-round pick, and after months of speculation linking Jones with a move to LA, the news has finally been confirmed.

Jones and the Galaxy kick off the 2017 MLS campaign March 4 when they host Supporters' Shield winners FC Dallas.
