Top Prospect to Watch in 2017

OF Socrates Brito is the team's top prospect, but is completely blocked from a regular role in the outfield. The Diamondbacks' farm system was run into the ground by a banner 2015 campaign that saw them trade away the likes of Dansby Swanson and Touki Toussaint for Shelby Miller and Phil Gosselin. They do not currently have a top-100 player in the MLB's prospect pipeline.

Who Will Drive You Crazy?

Tomas. He has struggled to find a full-time home in the field but his bat gives him fantasy stud potential. He hit 32 HRs in 2016 with a .820 OPS and is only 26, but has a career slash line of .254/.286/.417 against right-handed pitching. If he can survive the outfield in the DH-less National League, he'll still be extraordinarily streaky even if he can't close the holes in his swing.

The One to Own

Rodney. Everyone continues to ignore the soon-to-be-40 righty. Rodney has averaged 35 saves over the past five seasons. He managed to eke out a 3.44 ERA and 25 saves split between bad Padres and Marlins squads; if the Dbacks' offense comes around, he could see his save totals reach the mid-to-high-30s again. He'll come cheap on draft day.

Top Sleeper

Bradley. A year removed from a season lost to a head injury, Bradley will look to build on a solid rookie campaign. Pitching at altitude in Arizona is tough, but Bradley's 9.1 K/9 last season hints at big strikeout potential. His 4.10 FIP soundly outperformed his 5.02 ERA, so some positive regression and natural improvement could be in order. He might go undrafted in 10-team leagues.
