Report: Jake Browning undergoes surgery on throwing shoulder

Two months after injuring his right arm, Jake Browning has reportedly gone under the knife.

The Washington quarterback and Heisman trophy candidate (through much of the season) underwent surgery on his throwing shoulder, according to Adam Jude of The Seattle Times, citing multiple sources.

Specifics of the procedure were not released, but Browning's recovery time is believed to be in the neighborhood of six weeks.

"I do think he was fighting through some things as the season went on because he's a tough guy," head coach Chris Petersen said during an interview with "Brock and Salk" on 710 ESPN Seattle. "We had to do some things. Let me say this: We've got some tough kids on our team. Those kids, they fight through some things, and we don't talk about who's hurt and all this stuff, but Jake's a tough kid and I'll just say that. He fought through some stuff."

Browning reportedly injured his arm during a game in November, and Washington wanted to keep the information under wraps in order to protect the sophomore gunslinger from added pressure from defenses, according to a source.
