Report: NFL looking into Sherman's undisclosed injury
Pete Carroll admitting Monday that Richard Sherman played the second half of the season with a significant MCL injury has promptly drawn the attention of the league office.
The NFL is looking into the situation after the Seattle Seahawks failed to list their star cornerback on the injury report over that stretch, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.
Any investigation into the matter shouldn't take long, as Carroll's admission should be about all the league needs to conclude that there was an infraction.
NFL rules state that violations of the injury report policy could include fines, suspensions, or forfeited draft picks. Given that past offenses have been limited to fines - the most notable of which involved the New York Jets and Brett Favre in 2009 - a similar penalty seems the likeliest scenario.
Sherman continued to play at Pro Bowl level despite the injury, starting all 16 games and finishing the season with four interceptions, 13 passes defensed, and 59 total tackles.
