Cuban 'would love' to see NBA team in Mexico

USA Today Sports

With his Dallas Mavericks fending off the Phoenix Suns Thursday night south of the border, team owner Mark Cuban wouldn't be opposed to making the trip to Mexico during the regular season more often.

"I would love a team down here. I think it would really help the sport,'" Cuban said, according to the Associated Press. "I would like to come back with the Mavericks, and every time that the NBA asks, we would love to be here.''

The eccentric billionaire praised the country's Arena Ciudad de Mexico as a potential home for games, while adding that it wouldn't be difficult for teams to travel because of the reasonable distance.

Thursday marked the fourth time in league history a regular-season game took place in Mexico City, with the last coming on Dec. 3 of last year when the Boston Celtics took on the Sacramento Kings at Mexico City Arena.

A second game will be held on Saturday when the Suns battle the San Antonio Spurs.
