Roma's Thomas Vermaelen: Out Sunday with injury

Vermaelen didn't make the 21-man squad for Sunday's match against Genoa with a calf injury.

Analysis:

Vermaelen missed the better part of the season with an ailment and apparently his new issue that he picked up during the winter break is serious enough to get him to the sidelines for the beginning of 2017 as well. The defender's new injury extent is still unclear.
