Koeman demands reinforcements after Everton's FA Cup exit

Everton's defeat to Leicester City shows just how much the club needs reinforcements, manager Ronald Koeman told reporters after Saturday's third-round FA Cup exit.

The Dutchman expressed his frustration with Everton board members and majority owner Farhad Moshiri over the Toffees' relative stasis on the January transfer market.

Although the Merseyside outfit did recruit Ademola Lookman from League One side Charlton earlier this week, Koeman is dissatisfied with the squad as it is.

"I know what is needed to change. If everybody opened his eyes may we will get further in our improvement - because that is what this team needs," said Koeman, who reportedly left Southampton under the assumption he would have £100 million to spend.

But the chase has yet to end. Manchester United castaways Morgan Schneiderlin and Memphis Depay are still only mentioned as targets, with the Red Devils reportedly batting away a £19-million bid for the former.

Koeman effectively challenged the board to front the money - and quickly.

Asked if he is looking to bring in better players, he said, "I have that in mind and the board knows because we speak together about what we and the team needs and that is the job of (director of football) Steve Walsh.

"I hope everybody realises what the team needs to get results that are the expectation of this football club."

Everton's schedule gets no easier next Saturday when it hosts title challenger Manchester City.
