Florida State and West Virginia will have the honor of opening the 2020 college football season in the Chick-fil-A Kickoff Game, the schools announced Thursday.

The game, an annual tradition in college football, will see the Seminoles and Mountaineers face off in the 16th installment of the game, set to take place in the yet to be opened Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta.

"We cannot be more proud to welcome back West Virginia and Florida State who have signed on for a second Chick-fil-A Kickoff Game appearance," Peach Bowl Inc. president and CEO Gary Stokan said.

West Virginia took part in the 2014 kickoff game against Alabama, and Florida State will be taking on Alabama in next year's installment.

"The Chick-fil-A Kickoff Game is an outstanding event, and we look forward to playing Florida State in the game to open the 2020 season," West Virginia head coach Dana Holgorson said. "Florida State is one of the top teams in the nation each year, and it will be a challenge for us and a great way to open the season."

As per tradition, the winner of the game will take possession of The Old Leather Helmet Trophy, one of college football's most notable rivalry trophies.
