Watch: Mixon eggs on Auburn fans as they chant 'he hits women'

John David Mercer-USA TODAY Sports

With time winding down in the first half of Monday night's Sugar Bowl, the Auburn student section rained down chants of "he hits women" on Oklahoma running back Joe Mixon.

Mixon, who plead guilty to hitting a woman in a 2014 incident and was subsequently forced to sit out the following season, appeared to respond by urging fans to get louder, as did Sooners quarterback Baker Mayfield.

That wasn't the only reference to Mixon's past during the Sugar Bowl, as ESPN broadcaster Brent Musburger drew the ire of some viewers when he spoke about Mixon making the most of his second chance and earning a job in the NFL.

Later in the game, Musburger seemed to respond to the criticism he faced on Twitter from his earlier comments.
