Report: Arians plans to remain with Cardinals despite health issues
All signs continue to point toward Bruce Arians being back for a fifth season in Arizona.
The Cardinals head coach is planning to return for the 2017 campaign despite some concerns about his health, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports.
Arians was hospitalized on two separate occasions this year, the first of which during the preseason and the second following a Week 11 loss to the Minnesota Vikings.
The 64-year-old disclosed after the initial stay that he'd been suffering from symptoms associated with diverticulitis, a condition affecting the digestive tract. Reports following that November illness indicated that he'd been dealing with chest pain. It's unclear whether the two were related.
Arizona has been among the league's elite teams for the better part of the four-year stretch since Arians' arrival as head coach in 2013.
Despite a disappointing 2016 season in which the Cardinals have followed up last year's NFC Championship Game appearance with a 6-8-1 record, news that the 64-year-old will return is a major positive for the organization's direction.
Arians enters Sunday's regular-season finale having gone 40-22-1 in 63 games across his four seasons in Arizona.
