Report: Carr 'extreme long shot' for Super Bowl after successful surgery
Oakland Raiders quarterback Derek Carr is expected to make a full recovery from surgery on his broken fibula, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.
Rapoport added that Carr is considered an "extreme long shot" to play in the Super Bowl should Oakland make it that far, but that he'll try to be ready.
Carr broke his leg against the Indianapolis Colts in Week 16 and was expected to miss six-to-eight weeks.
The 25-year-old was an MVP candidate prior to his injury, completing 63.7 percent of his passes for 3,933 yards and 28 touchdowns against just six interceptions.
Matt McGloin is expected to start in Carr's absence, while the Raiders have already clinched a playoff spot, leading the AFC West by one game entering the season finale. Oakland could still grab the No. 1 seed with a win against Denver and a Patriots' loss.
Carr told supporters that he'd be fine after undergoing surgery on Thursday.
Surgery couldn't have gone better! Received great news! Already started the recovery process!Thank you for all of your prayers as I heal up!
