McManaman swaps West Brom for Sheffield Wednesday on loan
Surplus to requirements at the Hawthorns, West Bromwich Albion midfielder Callum McManaman will join Sheffield Wednesday on loan when the transfer window officially opens on Jan. 1 until the end of the season.
Wednesday announced the move Tuesday, with the versatile middle-of-the-park man looking to help the sixth-placed Owls' promotion plans.
McManaman, 25, has yet to make a Premier League appearance for the Baggies this campaign after signing from Wigan last summer as Tony Pulis' first recruit for a £4.75-million fee.
With the Latics, McManaman won the 2012-13 FA Cup over Manchester City, Wigan's first major trophy in its history. McManaman was named Man of the Match.
Prior to his six-year spell with Wigan, the Merseyside-born winger spent nearly a decade in Everton's academy before leaving his boyhood club in search of first-team football.
After a successful medical with Wednesday, McManaman is set to make his debut Jan. 2 against Wolves at Hillsborough.
