VfL Wolfsburg's wantaway midfielder Julian Draxler claims to already be in talks with "a couple of clubs" ahead of the January transfer window, with Paris Saint-Germain, Arsenal, and Liverpool appearing to be frontrunners for his signature, reports ESPN FC's Stephan Uersfeld.

Amid interest from Juventus, Draxler joined Wolfsburg from FC Schalke 04 in the summer of 2015, but things have quickly soured in Lower Saxony. The 23-year-old stated he wished to leave the club in August, and followed that up with a series of lacklustre performances, drawing boos from the Wolfsburg faithful.

Despite questions over his attitude - prompting Germany legend Lothar Matthaus to warn clubs off signing such a "weak character" - Draxler anticipates a transfer soon.

"I am in talks with a couple of clubs, but so far no decision has been made," the 2014 World Cup winner told Bild, with translation from ESPN FC. "We will all sit down and make a sensible decision that is suitable for us."

Tuesday's much-needed 2-1 victory over Borussia Monchengladbach, another underperformer in the 2016-17 Bundesliga campaign, could be the last appearance Draxler makes for Die Wolfe.

Draxler cost Wolfsburg a fee starting at €36 million and was intended as a direct replacement for Kevin De Bruyne, who left for Manchester City. The club's new sporting director, Olaf Rebbe, has indicated that he expects to recoup much of this fee - and maybe more.

With the winter break now underway, Wolfsburg doesn't return to domestic matters until it hosts Hamburg on Jan. 21.
