The Jacksonville Jaguars have promoted assistant head coach Doug Marrone to interim head coach, the team announced Monday. He takes over after Gus Bradley was fired Sunday following the Jaguars' 21-20 loss to the Houston Texans.
With Bradley gone, Marrone's the remaining staff member with the most head coaching experience, and the likely candidate to man the sidelines for the team's final two games.
Marrone coached the Buffalo Bills in 2013 and 2014, compiling a 15-17 record. He resigned from that position after the 2014 season, and was brought aboard in Jacksonville as an assistant and offensive line coach in 2015.
General manager David Caldwell will address both coaching decisions in a press conference at 2 p.m. ET on Monday.
