Everton's Bolasie to undergo 2nd operation on right knee

Everton winger Yannick Bolasie requires a second operation on his injured right knee before he begins the long road to recovery, manager Ronald Koeman told reporters Friday.

The 27-year-old suffered serious ligament damage in a 1-1 draw against Manchester United earlier in the month. The £25-million summer signing underwent surgery Thursday, but Koeman said Bolasie will go under the knife a second time in the New Year.

"We know about his ACL, but his first operation was on his meniscus, now he has to wait 9-10 weeks for the surgery on his ACL," said the Dutchman.

"He will be out for a long time."

Bolasie's absence has left a gaping hole on the left side of Everton's attack, fuelling reports of a potential move for United outcast Memphis Depay.

Koeman has the necessary funds to finance transfers in the January window, with majority owner Farhad Moshiri placing "no restrictions" on Everton's spending money.

Bolasie will also miss DR Congo's campaign in the upcoming African Cup of Nations.
