Tiger Woods signs sponsorship deal with Bridgestone

When Tiger Woods plays a PGA tournament next, he'll do so whacking around Bridgestone balls.

The former World No. 1, who returned to the PGA Tour earlier this month after a near 16-month absence, signed a multi-year sponsorship agreement with the company.

Woods will appear in television and print ads as part of the deal, according to ESPN.

As Woods will tell it, it's the quality of the product that ultimately forged the relationship. Since Nike ceased production on equipment, he's experimented with different products, and the Bridgestone Tour B-S330 ball suited his liking.

"We supplied him with product, but we had no communication with him and didn't have any way to help influence his decision," Corey Consuegra, the director of marketing for Bridgestone Golf, told ESPN.

Woods used the Bridgestone balls at the Hero World Challenge.

"Finding the right golf ball is extremely important," Woods said in a statement. "It's an essential part of my equipment."
