Despite being the highest-paid coach in college football - at his alma mater, no less - Jim Harbaugh's name seems to surface whenever there's an opening in the NFL.

Within an hour of the Los Angeles Rams firing Jeff Fisher on Monday, rumors had already circulated that the Michigan coach was a candidate to fill the role. For his part, though, Harbaugh told his players that he's staying put.

"He (Harbaugh) said '(I'll keep this) short, sweet and to the point: I'm not leaving,'" Wolverines tackle Ryan Glasgow told Nick Baumgardner of MLive.com. "He said (the NFL rumors) are 'lies made up by our enemies.'"

Harbaugh has gained a reputation in the coaching industry as a guy who likes to move around, having never spent more than four seasons at any previous stop. His tenure with the San Francisco 49ers - Harbaugh's lone NFL head coaching job - was wildly successful, as the club went to three straight NFC championship games and one Super Bowl from 2011-13.

The former Michigan quarterback has now turned around a disappointing Wolverines program in two years, posting back-to-back 10-win seasons.

Michigan heads south for the Orange Bowl against Florida State on Dec. 30th.
